Laches Wood Centre
This facility for the whole community provides residential courses for schools, early years, community and adult groups.
This new building provides an added dimension to Staffordshire Outdoor Education provision. Over one million pounds is being invested on the site of Coven Outdoor Education Centre to provide a modern building in the rural landscape adjacent to Laches Wood. The building will include family and single rooms, all with en-suite facilities, together with bedroom accommodation for school parties in rooms of 6 or 8. Laches Wood will also considerably improve access to the outdoors for those with disabilities.
It is widely recognised that Family Learning improves the life chances of vulnerable children and in turn supports the five outcomes of ‘Every Child Matters’. It is envisaged that this new facility will enable parents and their young children to be given opportunities to learn together in a supportive, harmonious environment. The Centre currently provides Forest School courses to promote this philosophy and the new facilities will enable these courses to reach a wider audience.
The new building will also provide an excellent venue for schools and other organisations wishing to use Laches Wood Centre for a variety of courses, in-service training and other events.
For further details please contact the Centre Manager, Paul Bailey, on 01902 790388 or email paul.bailey@staffordshire.gov.uk
